This Week's Announcements

Full-Text Search on the Orthodox Internet:
A few announcements for the upcoming weekend:

1)  Thanks to all who worked quietly behind the scenes to make our
nameday picnic on Sunday such a pleasant occasion.  If you think we "do
it up" for the Dormition, look at this article from today's _NY Times_
on the Dormition observance of the Indian Orthodox Christians on Long
Island.  (Remember that these Orthodox trace their spiritual heritage
back to St. Thomas the Apostle!)

2)  Blessings on all who sanctified the time of the Dormition Fast by
joining for communal prayer at the special services of the season,
especially the Vesperal Liturgy of the Transfiguration, the Paraklesis
services, and Vespers of the Dormition last Saturday evening, at which
we had Litia and Artoclasia.  Thanks too to all those who brought
flowers to be blessed at last Sunday's Liturgy in commemoration of the
miracle that happened at the tomb of the Mother of God.  Orthodox
Christian life is preserved and strengthened in the gentle rhythms of a
parish's liturgical life; thus those who worship in a disciplined and
consistent manner, especially at the special services of the liturgical
year, exert a crucial missionary witness in our increasingly secularized
times.

3)  Fr. Ted will be back in the western part of the state from Wednesday
through Friday of this week.  IN CASE OF EMERGENCY, please get in touch
with Fr. Deacon Evangelos at 264-5345 (home) or 267-7441 (work).

4)  Schedule for this Sunday:
Metalepsis (Preparation for Holy Communion) -- 9:15 a.m.
Third and Sixth Hours -- 9:40 a.m.
DIVINE LITURGY -- 10 a.m.

--Fr. Ted
